Urgent Message about Bus Safety Concerns

URGENT MESSAGE FOR PARENTS DROPPING OFF STUDENTS

AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE

There has been increasing concern expressed by bus drivers that parents are walking in between buses, creating the potential for a tragedy.  This morning a parent came so close to the side of the bus that she held onto the bus mirror for balance and moved it from position.  To assist the bus company in making sure our students are as safe as possible, we are instituting the following rules which will be effective Monday, February 22nd:

If you arrive at the front door after 7:55 and there is a bus in the lane, you are asked to wait in your car until there are no buses in the lane.  Never attempt to walk between two buses.

The same rule applies to parents who come to the front before 7:55 because they are dropping off items in the office.  Our custodian will ask you to wait in your car until the bus lane is clear.

This does not apply to walkers who are well trained in walking towards a parked bus and keeping to one side to pass the bus.
