Thank You to the Manchester Road Race

A huge thank you goes to the Manchester Road Race! We have received a donation of $3,600 to be used toward protective wall matting in the gym.  This will get us started on the walls behind the basketball hoops.

Odyssey is a Connecticut public school on the move! As the state’s first charter school we are running stronger than ever and still growing. We added Kindergarten, first, second and third grade in September, 2011.  We moved into our first new classrooms in March 2012.

Our current construction project includes more classrooms, gym, library, and learning center.  We moved into these new rooms and opened our Gym in January 2013. The structural base for the playground was completed by the beginning of the school year.  As the fall continues, additional play elements will be added.  Last June, the field was renovated with new topsoil, drainage and reseeding.  The field will not be in use this fall until a second reseeding has ensured a solid grassy play surface to be available after the Winter.

Our last construction project will begin July 1, 2013.  This will result in a new office, health suite, and conference room available for parent meetings.

We have an incredibly dedicated, enthusiastic, professional faculty.  Our smaller class sizes help build a solid foundation for the future educational experiences of our students.

We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our educational philosophy, our people and our community.

Mr. Avallone Day

Mr. Avallone Day

On Friday, March 1st, the entire school community celebrated Mr. Avallone Day in honor of our beloved Tech Director.  We hope you click on the link to see the video in which students and staff told stories about how Mr. Avallone always solves their problems and makes the best choices for technology in our school.  What you won’t see on the video is Mr. Avallone wearing a party hat and a king’s cloak while dancing in a ring of middle school students or patiently high-fiving every K-4 students as they filed by to give him cards they had made.  We couldn't survive or thrive without you, Mike!

Important Announcement - School Calendar Revision

Before Blizzard Charlotte made her appearance last week, earlier climate issues had closed school for several days, forcing our last day of school to June 25th.  To compensate for our most recent loss of three school days, we are making the following changes to our calendar:

We are reducing our 181 day calendar to 180 days.

We are reducing our February vacation by two days.  Thursday, February 21st and Friday, February 22nd will be half days with 12:30 dismissal.

These actions will allow us to keep our last school day as June 25th.

We realize that some families might have made vacation plans.  Please contact your child's teacher if this is the case.

Thank you!

Late Arrival to School

All Odyssey classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m., at which time the rear student entrance door is locked.  Students are considered late to school if they are not in class ready with their materials by 8:01 am. It is very helpful if students arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the school day so they can put away their coats and back packs prior to the opening of the school day.  The back student entrance is open from 7:30-8:00.

If you are unavoidably delayed, please walk your child into the front entrance and sign him or her in.  Please do not simply drop your child off at the front of the building.  Thank you for your cooperation!
